Sanctuary Housing Social Media
As a Pillar (student org.) co-leader, I participated in a 10-week project to contribute to a cause I'm passionate about. I had the great opportunity to work alongside Nicole, the founder of Sanctuary Housing. She wanted my help to revitalise her social media channels to increase donations and volunteers as she was struggling to keep her charity afloat.
Sanctuary Housing is a not-for-profit organisation that provides fundraising, shelter, emotional and physical support for women and children in the NSW region who have found themselves homeless, either through domestic violence or other critical events.
My partner and I were briefed on the following goals provided by Nicole:
Increase traffic and engagement to Sanctuary Housing’s social media and website
Secure future funding and donations
Raise awareness for Sanctuary Housing’s cause
The Results
These were the steps we took to achieve these goals within the three months:
Analysed Sanctuary Housing's social media and website performance, strategised and implemented various social media methods (e.g consistent posting, visual cohesion) and used A/B testing to compare results of different strategies.
Scheduled a content calendar and consistently created weekly content for Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn with a focus on increasing stronger brand identity and visual cohesion
Renovated the website with the rebranding and improved its UI/UX
Set up easy-to-access donation methods and linked them on the various social channels (i.e Linktree Paypal)
I suggested that we visit the shelters to gain deeper insight and empathise with Sanctuary Housing’s mission and values by hearing stories and testimonials from the women there
Future: created a content library, templates and guide to social media engagement for client to continue with successful strategies following the project.
As a result, we achieved:
30 volunteer sign ups at their Mother’s Day Myer gift wrapping stall up from 2 the year before
Raised $300 in donations
An average post engagement increase from 53 to 250 within the first month
Increase in 667 site visitors to their website
The project was featured as one of two projects (out of 17) in the Pillar newsletter and selected for the project showcase at the end of the cycle due to its successful results.
